Privacy notice
Your details, handled plainly.
This notice explains what Lancs Dating collects for event planning, why we use it, and the choices you have.
Who is responsible?
Lancs Dating is the data controller for the information described here. For privacy questions or a data request, email hello@lancsdating.app. We aim to respond to rights requests within one month.
What we collect
When you join the list, we collect your name, email address, chosen location, age, your request to receive event emails, and the date and version of the notice shown with your signup. If you answer a date poll, we also store your yes, maybe or no answers and when you last changed them.
Our hosting and security providers may also process technical information such as an IP address, browser information, request time and URL as part of delivering and protecting the service.
Why we use it
- to send the event details and scheduling questions you asked to receive;
- to understand which locations and dates are workable;
- to prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures and keep the service secure; and
- to respond to privacy requests and meet legal obligations.
We rely on your clear request and consent for event-related email contact, and on our legitimate interests in running, securing and administering the event. We do not use this signup for unrelated marketing. Any future marketing will be separately assessed and, where required, separately opted into.
Who receives it
Access is limited to the event organisers and the providers needed to run the service. These currently include our self-hosted Appwrite server for hosting and storage, the email delivery provider that sends our emails, plus the organisers' Gmail and Outlook inboxes for signup notifications. Poll emails are addressed to you and contain a personal link; poll results show totals, not names.
Where it is processed
Signup details and poll answers are stored on the server that runs our Appwrite installation. Email providers may process information internationally. Where a restricted transfer applies, we use the safeguards required by applicable data protection law. Contact us if you want more information about the safeguards relevant to your data.
How long we keep it
Signup details, poll answers and poll administration records remain in our application storage until they are deleted by you or by the organiser. We do not currently apply automatic expiry to these records. Organiser email copies are reviewed and deleted when no longer needed; provider logs and delivery records may have their own retention periods.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us for access to, correction of, restriction of, or deletion of your information, and you can object to processing or withdraw your email contact choice. Use the personal “Manage your details” link in an event email to view your stored signup and poll answers, stop future event emails, or delete the application records we hold. You can also email us directly.
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
